Position Overview:

This is no ordinary CTO role. As a Fractional CTO at Valerian, you’ll combine strategic vision, hands-on technical expertise, and a knack for connecting with clients. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our clients’ success while also helping us expand our reach by identifying and securing new business opportunities.

We need someone who can move seamlessly between technical deep dives, client-facing strategy sessions, and high-level business development efforts. If you enjoy wearing many hats and making a tangible impact, this role was made for you.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Client Engagement:

• Build strong, trust-driven relationships with clients by understanding their business goals and aligning technology solutions to meet their needs.
• Act as both a strategic advisor and hands-on problem solver, ensuring clients see real results from their partnership with us.

Business Development:

• Work closely with our leadership team to identify new opportunities and expand Valerian’s client portfolio.
• Develop proposals, present solutions, and engage in networking activities to grow our footprint in the market.
• Be a key player in showing prospective clients the value of Valerian’s services and expertise.

Technical Leadership:

• Lead multiple client projects, ensuring all solutions meet the highest standards of quality, innovation, and practicality.
• Dive into technical work when needed, whether it’s coding, troubleshooting, or designing system architecture.
• Guide teams in implementing cutting-edge technologies while solving complex challenges.

Project Management:

• Manage multiple projects across various clients, keeping deliverables on track, budgets intact, and clients impressed.
• Proactively address any roadblocks, ensuring projects run smoothly from start to finish.

Tech Innovation:

• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing fresh insights and innovative solutions to clients.
• Encourage the adoption of best practices and forward-thinking methodologies to deliver long-term value.

What You Bring:

• Proven experience in senior technology leadership roles, ideally in a professional services environment where client engagement is key.
• A successful track record of delivering complex technical solutions while managing multiple projects.
• Business development experience, including identifying opportunities, pitching services, and driving revenue growth.
• Exceptional communication skills—you know how to connect with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
• A strategic mindset paired with the technical depth to execute at all levels.

The Basics:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in technology leadership positions, with at least 15 years in the tech industry.
• Strong familiarity with various tech stacks, programming languages, and industry best practices.
